Rita Dominic at 50: Style, Grace, and a New Chapter

If there’s one woman who continues to break the rule of aging, it’s Rita Dominic. She is constantly dismissing the belief that beauty fades with age. Our multiple award-winning actress clocked 50 on the 12th of July. As she dropped amazing photos of herself on Instagram, tributes and wishes have been coming in none stop. In one of her post, she wrote a short but heart felt message, saying “Happy decade day, Ree Dee” she went ahead to gives thanks to God for health and Life.

Our Nollywood diva marked her new age with a private ceremony attended by families, close friends and some industry colleagues in Lagos.
“Next weekend we party to stupor, courtesy of hubby” she said in her recent post on IG.

She was born into the royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise on July 12, 1975. Rita was the youngest of four children, her father was a medical doctor while her mom was a nursing officer. Brought up from a background that values education, she started to show an early flair for performance- acting in school plays, before going ahead to study Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 1999. From there, she picked up her acting career and she has never looked back.

Over the years, Dominic has made a name for herself. she has gathered a collection of awards that speak volumes, both local and international. These awards include the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and earned accolades from film festivals in Toronto, Durban and Cairo.

While her journey through Nollywood has been nothing short of iconic, her love story adds another layer to the woman we’ve come to admire. In 2022, she got married to Fidelis Anosike. The wonderful union took place at the stately North Yorkshire manor in the United Kingdom. In a past interview, Rita once described their bond as “worth the wait” and encouraged women to pursue happiness in their own timeline.

Beyond acting, Rita is also a respected film producer and co-founder of The Audrey Silva Company. She has helped reshape storytelling in Nollywood, aiming for better scripts.
In December 2024, she was officially appointed as the Chairman of Miss Nigeria Board for the 45th edition of the pageant. During her tenure, it wasn’t only about beauty, but beauty with brains. She was intentional about community uplifting, gifted mind and women in leadership, generally female empowerment.
