When it comes to monochromatic colour dressing, blue is one of the easiest shades to work with. It is versatile and present in almost every wardrobe. Yet many people still struggle to style it in a way that feels interesting. Nigerian media personality Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, widely known as Kie Kie, recently stepped out to sign an ambassadorial deal with Johnvents Foods in a look that ‘blue’ everyone away.

The look was built around a two-piece in a monochromatic light blue shade. The fabric looks structured and breathable, which gives the outfit shape. Instead of something fully loose or overly layered, the tailoring does most of the work.

The top half of the outfit features a slightly fitted blazer. The shoulders are slightly defined and the waist pulls in just enough to create a slight silhouette. The blazer is buttoned at the front, keeping the look clean. The jacket has no prints, stitching patterns, or other distractions. The colour remains the main focus.

Underneath, she pairs the blazer with matching pants. The pants sits high on the waist and falls straight down toward the toe. Kie Kie keeps the rest of the styling simple. Her shoes and bag are in a darker blue shade that bring a bit of contrast which still lets the outfit take center stage.

Her hair and makeup complement the look. It’s styled neatly in a ponytail updo which was kept away from the face, allowing the neckline of the blazer to remain visible. When a jacket has a defined shape like this, covering it with large hair can disrupt the balance.

Her makeup leans toward warm tones with soft highlights around the eyes and lips, Nothing overly dramatic. The clothes already carry strong colour, so the makeup supports the look rather than trying to compete with it.

Kie Kie’s look suggests that styling does not always need complex tricks. Sometimes the best approach is choosing a strong colour, wearing it well, and letting the outfit make the statement.
