As Group Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) and the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Elumelu has significantly influenced business leadership and economic growth in Africa.
Elumelu’s career breakthrough came when he led a small group of investors to take over the struggling Crystal Bank in 1997, which later became Standard Trust Bank (STB). His leadership turned it into one of Nigeria’s top banks within a short period. In 2005.
