Regina & Mercy- Bonded by Style, Backed by Loyalty

On the evening of June 14, 2025, all eyes were on Nollywood’s beloved Regina Daniels and Mercy Johnson as they graced the 68th UN Tourism CAF Gala Night in Abuja. Invited by the Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

Dressed in coordinated Ankara straight gowns designed with long lace flared sleeves, they arrived gracefully and became the centre of attention. Regina’s gown carried striking black lace and was designed by Regina Ojeogwu, while Mercys was in green lace, courtesy of Sammielcal. According to Regina, the matching look was completely unplanned—yet in perfect sync, just like their bond.

And that bond has only grown stronger, especially in recent weeks.
Just over a week ago, Regina Daniels proved her loyalty when she came out swinging in defense of Mercy Johnson during one of the most heated online controversies Nollywood has seen in a while.

It all began on June 3, 2025. Actress Angela Okorie went live on Instagram in what seemed to be a moment of peace and reflection. She shared that she had forgiven Mercy Johnson for past wrongs and subtly suggested Mercy should also “apologise for all the wrongdoings.” But what started as a calm moment quickly blew up into a social media storm.

Angela began by addressing Mercy Johnson’s rumored health condition, showing what appeared to be concern.

“I got some news recently that Mercy Johnson is not feeling well, and really honestly feel for her and I want the best for her, and I want her to win. The kind of sickness I was told she has is something I cannot wish on my enemy.”

But her choice of words didn’t sit well with Regina Daniels, who didn’t hesitate to defend her “mama.” In a fiery clapback, Regina called Angela “mad” and added:

“Please don’t forgive because here we don’t forgive. Continue and while at it, don’t forget that she has children. No dey shalaye.”

Things exploded quickly. Angela took personal swipes, accusing Regina of marrying for wealth.

“You married a man who is supposed to be your great-grandfather,” she said, claiming it was the only reason Regina felt bold enough to speak up.
But Regina didn’t let it slide. Her response? Sharp, direct, and unapologetic:

“I married my old man, but he is certainly not your regular old man. He is everything your kind prays for but can’t attract. Don’t get me started on telling the world how you were chasing this same old man.

Now let your age reflect your reasoning. Clearly, you failed because a girl who once admired you when she was six sees you as nothing to write home about. And for Christ’s sake, stop comparing yourself to me!!! It will be a huge disrespect to me and everyone who supports my movement. You and I are not the same. Not even close. I am bigger than you and your entire music/movie career. Let’s not even mention my mama (Mercy Johnson), whose name rings the loudest bell. I don’t need scandals or shadows to shine.”

While fans were still recovering from the battle of words, Angela Okorie returned with more flames. She claimed to have visited Regina in her Abuja home, where she alleged that Regina’s husband, Ned Nwoko, gave her ₦500,000 and requested that Regina be featured in one of Angela’s projects.

Regina, however, swiftly denied the claim. According to her, the money was not a gift but rather a result of Angela begging for support on her project.
And now, in the latest twist, Angela is claiming that Regina is trying to get her arrested.
