These groups used to be the major part of the Ojude festival and this year is not an exception. This cultural age-group dazzled with their coordinated outfits, showcasing attire and pageantry. Their synchronized movement and vibrant colors added to the festival’s excitement, highlighting the importance of tradition and community. As they appear in coordinated attire, they take turns to greet the Awujale through dances, prayers, and presentation of gifts.

Balogun Horsemen

The descendants of Ijebu warriors participated in a dramatic equestrian display, accompanied by traditional war music and gun salutes. This has always been a great highlight of the Ojude Oba. The horsemen’s skillful riding and majestic horses emphasized the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.

Cultural Practices

Rich cultural performances including Apala music and traditional dances, added to the excitement and celebration. Renowned artists like Alhaji Musiliu Haruna Ishola and Alhaji Saheed Ligali-Mukaiba performed, entertaining the crowd with their soulful music and energetic dance moves. The 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) took place on January 11, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos. Nigerian artists were among the night’s top winners, taking home ten awards across various categories.
