At this year’s London edition, the foundation established by Maria Bravo continued its commitment to programmes that uplift communities, partnering over the years with initiatives such as the Eva Longoria Foundation and other humanitarian projects. The gala’s mix of cultural presence and philanthropic purpose has made it an anticipated meeting point for personalities who go with its mission.
For the evening, Cuppy chose a gown by Hertunba, the Nigerian label founded by Florentina Agu, whose work is recognised for its strong lines and unique fabrics. The brand often draws on materials like aso-oke and akwete, merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary structure.

Her gown showed the brand’s signature direction: a carefully shaped fitted top with inner form, a textured surface that revealed its woven layers. The creamy tone of the fabric offered a clean, modern finish while allowing the craft to remain the main point. With minimal accessories, the dress carried it’s own beauty without extra details.
Cuppy’s decision to wear Hertunba showed a wider statement one that acknowledges heritage, conscious design and the designers redefining African fashion through innovation and craft. On a night dedicated to giving, her choice aligned beautifully with the values of purpose and community that the gala represents. It also carefully showed the continued rise of Nigerian brands on global cultural stages, an evolution driven by labels that centre artistry, storytelling and responsible production.

Tems Makes a Statement in a Chocolate Ostrich-Feather Gown at the 2026 BET Awards
Tems walked the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards on Sunday, June 28, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. She had three nominations that night, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and a BET Her nod for her song “First,” but her outfit was already making rounds on the Internet before the night even properly began.

She arrived at the event in a brown bodycon gown with a plunging halter neckline that showed her hourglass shape. The dress transitions at her hips into a heavy, asymmetrical wrap of matching chocolate ostrich feathers that falls into a big textured floor-length train, completely concealing her footwear.
Her glam, executed by makeup artist Kayla Perez was in warm earthy tones with a deep brown lined glossy lip that complemented the gown. Her hair, styled by Viphair Ashanti was parted down the center into long, soft, waves that fall past her shoulders. Tems kept her accessories minimal choosing a delicate diamond choker necklace paired with a matching diamond bracelet and a few rings.

She was seen in three outfits at the event. For her performance of “What You Need,” she wore an ivory cream halter gown, backed by a full band and six backup singers. Later, she joined Tierra Whack on stage in a black vest and pinstripe trousers for a tribute to Lauryn Hill, who received the night’s first Living Legend Icon Award.
In the end, Tems did not win any of her three categories. But between the red carpet and the stage, her outfit was worth every hype.
Going from the Lagos music scene to center stage in Los Angeles didn’t happen by accident. Every detail, right down to the feathers on her dress, was a calculated move.

Bimbo Ademoye Cuts Up a White Shirt to Style an Akwete Skirt
Bimbo Ademoye recently shared a new fashion look on her lifestyle Instagram page, after visiting Oasis Gourmet Restaurant. The actress stepped out in a black and white combination centered on an Akwete skirt, paired with a reworked white shirt and black tie.
The outfit featured a sleeveless white shirt with a pointed collar and a black necktie. Rather than wearing the shirt in its original form, Bimbo cropped it above the waist by cutting off the lower section and removing the sleeves. The shorter length directed attention to the skirt while the tie introduced contrast to the look, giving the outfit a structured finish.

The Akwete skirt, designed by Yetunde Salimon Akande, featured geometric woven patterns that highlighted the craftsmanship of the traditional fabric. Fitted at the waist, the skirt extended into a sculptural silhouette with pointed panels that fell below the knee, creating an interesting shape while allowing the woven details to remain visible throughout the design.
She completed the outfit with a pair of black Marc Jacobs Kiki Leather Pumps, styled with white socks featuring black stripes. A black Christian Dior handbag complemented the monochrome outfit, with gold bangles and ring.
Her hair, was styled in a centre-parted bob. Her makeup, done by GlambyMorgan, featured, warm-toned eyeshadow, contoured cheeks and a nude lip.

Few weeks before this, Bimbo Ademoye stepped out in a blush pink two-piece outfit made up of a structured sleeveless peplum top and a floor-length skirt, paired with a matching pink handbag and red heels. While that appearance focused on soft tailoring this look combined an Akwete skirt with a reworked shirt and tie.
