Toke Makinwa was photographed at a night out wearing a chocolate brown oversized graphic tee from Kai Collective, layered over a rust-orange macramé net skirt, and captioned it “Category is African Baddie.” That caption was not a boast. It was a more of a description.

She wore a chocolate brown, oversized crewneck t-shirt that came with a large abstract graphic print on the front with curving blocks of pink, yellow, black, and white. The sleeves were casually rolled up to the mid-bicep. She paired it over a long, statement-making rust-orange macramé net skirt. The bottom featured an open fishnet weave that cascaded into a dense, heavy long fringe which swayed around her legs.

Her hair was styled in an ultra-straight center-parted blowout in warm brown shade. She had her makeup in warm earthy tones. For accessories, she carried a miniature beige woven top-handle bag featuring gold hardware accents from her brand Toke Makinwa Luxury and wore retro-inspired oversized round tortoiseshell sunglasses with dark gradient lenses. Jewellery-wise, she went with oversized gold filigree drop earrings in an elongated teardrop shape, paired with metallic cuff bracelets. Her shoes were minimalist, high-gloss blush pink patent leather open-toe mules with a simple platform and architectural heel.

Since returning to public life following the birth of her daughter Yakira Precious, Toke has been showing up at events and on social media with the same sharpness she has always carried. Getting dressed for Toke, has always looked like a decision, and this night out was no different.

Just weeks before this, in early May, she had worn a floor-length olive green metallic gown with an off-shoulder neckline, a thigh-high split, a fitted silhouette, and diamond jewellery from Akano Diamonds. Where that look was structured and body-hugging from top to hem, this one opened with a roomy graphic tee and moved into a loose, fringed skirt.

Content creator and media personality Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, known widely as Kie Kie, just turned a year older, and she entered into it in style . For her birthday, she wore a head-to-toe burgundy two-piece by Accost Collection, and captioned it with “As I enter my next Big Era, eternal rock of ages, Alewi lese go with me.”

She wore a two-piece crafted from a rich, deep burgundy fabric. The bodice was a cropped short-sleeved top with strong, defined shoulders and a simple geometric cutout at the waistline that added a modern touch. Complementing the top, she paired it with a high-waisted, fitted skirt that transitioned into a multi-tiered peplum shape and a dramatic, see-through hoop skirt made from matching burgundy mesh, panelled over structural framing rings.

She accessorized with a big, matching burgundy velvet wide-brimmed hat, tilted to the side. Her hair was styled in a long straight wig and pulled back to keep the focus on her headwear. For jewellery, she wore large, layered floral drop earrings in a velvet shade and layered multi-strand pearl bracelets. Her makeup by Atike was done in nude shades. She completed her look with pointed-toe heeled ankle boots in the same shade as her outfit, detailed with scattered metallic stud designs. Her photography was handled by Edos Artistry.

The shoot came on the heels of a busy 2026 for Kie Kie, who earlier this year starred in “Trade by Bata,” directed by Biodun Stephen, which hit the screens of cinemas in April. She also currently has “Reheated Passion” running on her YouTube channel, KiekieTV, which she called the only birthday gift she wanted from her fans.

Last year on this same date, she called herself “The Pearl Queen” and showed up in a sheer, crystal-striped bodysuit layered with floral pearl clusters at the shoulders, waist, and cuffs. That look was ivory and delicate. This year’s is burgundy and architectural, same energy, but completely different style approach.
