What Dede Ashiogwu Wears When She Wants to Be Heard
Dede Ashiogwu has mastered a presence that people notice before they even realise it. She leans on black the way some rely on words, choosing shades that carry authority on their own. This week she reminded her followers of that pull with a short note on Instagram: “Make them stop and stare.”
She skipped the usual glamour settings and kept things stripped back, offering no locations or event hints, just a plain background that put her and the outfit front and centre.

Every part of the look feels deliberate. She chose a long black wool-blend suit-dress. It’s double-breasted, drawn in at the waist, and shaped with structured shoulders that give it clear definition. A white collar and cuffs break the darkness, joined by a narrow tie that anchors the look.
The surprise comes from the fringe: long strands hanging from the sleeves, torso, and hem, adding subtle flow to a carefully composed design. Changing the outline just enough to guide the eye, gold hoops and tortoiseshell shades provide warmth while her taper fade keeps the overall effect clean and composed.

Where bold patterns usually take the lead, Dede’s decision to keep it simple carries more impact than any bright print. The tailoring gives form without distraction, the fringe adds gentle energy, and the ensemble feels confident and intentional. She didn’t need a stage or a spotlight. The outfit spoke for itself, and it was impossible to look away.

Davido’s 5IVE Alive Tour Look in Guinea Calls for a Closer Look
Davido wrapped up his 5IVE Alive Tour in Guinea six days ago captioning his Instagram post “And that’s a wrap. Thank you, Guinea! 48 shows. 4 continents. Hundreds of thousands of people. One movement…” While this message showed gratitude for the global run, his fashion choice for the final performance was equally worth noting.

Photo: Instagram/@davido
He wore a carefully tailored dark blue pinstripe two-piece suit that immediately stood out because it mixed cultural elements with modern tailoring. Something you wouldn’t expect to be worn by an artist. The double-breasted blazer gave structure to the outfit, while the loose fit of the trousers and blazer made it unique.
What really pulled the look together was the use of patterns and cultural appliques. The blue traditional cap added a unique blend to the outfit. Instead of going for a regular suit-and-tie appearance or a causal artist-like look, he chose a style that reflected both luxury fashion and Nigerian identity.

The detailing on the suit is worth highlighting. The embroidered designs across the chest and pockets broke up the pinstripes nicely and added more detail. He kept his accessories minimal. The sunglasses, wristwatch, and bracelets blended in naturally.
The white sneakers also added a unique touch. Some people may see them as too casual for the outfit, but they softened the seriousness of the suit giving it a simpler finish.
As African artists continue gaining global attention, fashion has become part of how they communicate identity and influence.
