Davido’s presence in Lagos fashion week

Award-winning Afrobeats icon Davido made an unforgettable entrance at the 2024 Lagos Fashion Week, energizing one of the continent’s most celebrated fashion gatherings with a surprise that blended his musical prowess with the pulse of African style.
His unanticipated appearance marked a turning point, highlighting how Lagos Fashion Week has evolved beyond a traditional runway showcase into a cross-disciplinary platform that integrates music, fashion, and African cultural pride.
Running from October 23 to October 27 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, the event presented a line-up of designers from across Africa, showing off the continent’s creativity, innovation, and diversity under the theme “COMMUNE,” which underscored the power of community and collaboration within African fashion
When Davido took the stage, attendees felt a palpable energy shift,
a reaction that speaks to his wide-reaching influence and connection to African and global audiences. His presence symbolized more than just celebrity endorsement; it felt like a homecoming to African cultural roots, celebrating how music and fashion fuel Africa’s global identity.
He didn’t simply attend but became part of the evening’s energy, showing support for the designers and reinforcing the significance of Lagos Fashion Week as an international stage for African creativity.
The four-day event included not only runway shows but also interactive panels, workshops, and exhibitions that allowed industry leaders and designers to explore sustainable practices, particularly through initiatives like the
“Circular Fashion and Textile Workshop.” Curated by the Dutch Embassy, the workshop focused on the challenges of sustainability in fashion, a topic increasingly relevant as African designers push for innovation in eco-conscious design. Davido’s appearance alongside such initiatives highlighted how cultural icons can drive awareness for both fashion and social responsibility. His participation amplified the message of sustainability and community, aligning with the theme of “COMMUNE” that defined the event.
In essence, Davido’s presence at Lagos Fashion Week was a powerful reminder of the growing influence of African pop culture on the world stage. His surprise appearance felt like an invitation to look closer at how African artists and designers are breaking boundaries, creating not just style but a narrative of African resilience and unity. This year’s Lagos Fashion Week was more than a fashion event; it was a celebration of identity, culture, and the global future of African creativity.

Tems Claims Her Crown at Billboard Global Power Players Event

When Tems accepted the Diamond Award at the Billboard Global Power Players ceremony in London, it wasn’t just another trophy, it was a milestone. The Nigerian artist, whose sound has reshaped the global music landscape, stood proudly as the industry honored not just her talent, but the cultural wave she represents. And true to form, she did it with the same effortless magnetism that defines her career.
Dressed in a sky-blue dress—sculpted, sleek, and subtly daring. The dress, from Schiaparelli’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection had Tems embodying the confidence of an artist who’s learned to own her space. The gown’s deep sweetheart neckline and off-shoulder sleeves framed her silhouette with understated elegance, while a bold, twisted fabric braid running down the front added just enough edge to remind everyone: she plays by her own rules.

But the night wasn’t about the outfit. It was about the recognition—a moment Tems acknowledged with characteristic grace.
“Being African and a musician is a whole new world, and Billboard has championed not just our music, but the culture behind it.”
Her words cut to the heart of why this award matters. From Lagos to London, Tems has spent years bending genres, blending influences, and proving that African artists don’t need to conform to global expectations—they can redefine them. The Diamond Award isn’t just a celebration of her success; it’s a signal that the industry is finally catching up.

Tems
Even her styling whispered quiet rebellion. Her hair, softly curled by Yluxe, and her warm, bronzed makeup by Kayla Perez, kept the focus on her presence rather than flashy theatrics. Because when you’re making history, you don’t need gimmicks, you just need to be seen.
Surely, as the applause echoed through the room, one thing was clear: Tems wasn’t just collecting an award. She was claiming her place in the story of music. And if this night was any indication, she’s only just begun.
