Published

on

American rapper A$AP Rocky has officially joined Chanel as the brand’s latest ambassador, marking another milestone in his growing influence in the fashion world. The announcement came in late November 2025, highlighting Rocky’s appeal beyond music and solidifying his role as a global style figure.

Chanel praised Rocky for his creativity and unique approach to style. Known for combining streetwear with tailored designer pieces, Rocky has consistently pushed boundaries in fashion, making him a natural fit for the luxury house. From mixing hoodies with designer jackets to pairing sneakers with tailored suits, his outfits consistently blend casual and high-fashion elements in ways that feel authentic.

This is not Rocky’s first major step into the fashion industry. Earlier in 2025, he became Ray-Ban’s first-ever Creative Director, overseeing design and creative direction for the eyewear line. His appointment at Chanel signals a continuation of this trajectory, positioning him as someone who influences how brands engage with both fans and fashion audiences.

Rocky’s style is personal and recognizable, and Chanel’s decision reflects a desire to connect with a younger, more diverse audience. His presence may influence campaigns, collaborations, and other initiatives that bring music, fashion, and lifestyle together in ways that feel fresh and modern.

For fans and observers, the partnership is a glimpse of what comes next. Rocky’s involvement is likely to shape marketing campaigns and visual storytelling for the brand, while also reinforcing the idea that artists today can play an active role in shaping how luxury fashion is presented and experienced.

This collaboration also highlights a wider trend in fashion: luxury brands increasingly work with artists who bring creativity and vision to the table, rather than just serving as faces for campaigns. For A$AP Rocky, the role is both an opportunity and a recognition of the influence he has cultivated over the past decade through music, style, and personal branding.

For Nigerian readers, Rocky’s appointment is a reminder of how cultural influence can cross industries. It shows that talent and vision can open doors beyond music, and that fashion is now a global stage where artists can leave a tangible mark. In 2025, A$AP Rocky is not just a musician or a trendsetter; he is a creative force shaping the way music and fashion intersect worldwide.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Badminton World Federation released its latest para-badminton rankings and Eniola Bolaji Mariam was at the top. The Nigerian athlete is now the Women’s SL3 World No. 1, the first African, to ever reach that position.

The ranking came after her silver medal at the 2026 World Para-Badminton Championship in Bahrain. On February 14, she played the final at the New Capital Hall and lost 2-0 to Japan’s world No. 7, Shino Kawai, with scores of 21-12 and 21-17. That silver medal, added to her gold at the Egypt International in January, her second consecutive title at that tournament, gave her enough ranking points to overtake Indonesia’s Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh and move to the top spot.

She is also the first African to win a silver medal at the Para-Badminton World Championship, and the first athlete under any affiliate of the National Sports Commission to reach world No. 1 in any sport.

This is not the first time Bolaji has broken a record. At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, she won bronze in the women’s SL3 event, making her the first African to win a badminton medal at the Paralympics.

BFN President Francis Orbih said after the ranking was confirmed:

“This is the biggest news of the year, with History Made! Eniola Bolaji Becomes Africa’s First Para-Badminton World No. 1 Bolaji claiming the world No. 1 spot following her participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games. She would likely have attained this position earlier if she had competed in more tournaments last year. She regained full stability last season and has carried that momentum into this year with outstanding performances.”

Bolaji not winning gold in Bahrain, Orbih stated: “I know many Nigerians were expecting another gold medal, but we must recognise that other players are equally determined to dethrone her. She has now become the first African to win a silver medal at the Para-Badminton World Championship.”

Orbih also credited the National Sports Commission, the Abia State Government, and GIG Logistics, saying their support had created the environment for Nigerian para-badminton players to compete and succeed at the highest level.
