Chioma Ikokwu arrived at Lanre Da Silva Ajayi’s 20th anniversary fashion show in Lagos wearing one of the standout looks from the newly released SS26 “Anniversary Collection.” The event marked two decades of the designer’s work and brought together long-time supporters of the brand and industry observers.

The dress she wore came straight from the runway and remained the main element of her appearance. The bodice used transparent panels reinforced with black contour lines, allowing the internal construction to be visible while still holding shape. Instead of relying on embellishment, the design focused on firm structure and precise shaping. The skirt shifted from the fitted bodice into layered black-and-white tulle arranged in uneven tiers that created volume without overwhelming the overall form.

This look reflects the direction of the SS26 collection, where Lanre Da Silva Ajayi leans more toward sculpted forms and technical control than the intricate detailing associated with some of her earlier work. The approach marks a clear shift in how the brand handles contrast, texture, and dimensionality.

Chioma kept her styling minimal. Black gloves, simple heels, and defined makeup ensured the dress remained the central focus. Photos taken across the venue show the piece maintaining its form consistently, reinforcing the designer’s intention for the dress to perform well both on and off the runway.

The brand highlighted Chioma’s appearance in its #LDA20 posts, and coverage of the anniversary event noted her look as one of the pieces that best represented the collection’s emphasis on structure, clarity, and controlled design. Many guests attended the milestone show, but Chioma’s choice stood out because it allowed the craftsmanship of the piece to remain fully visible without distraction.

“I love an outfit that is well made and an absolute showstopper.” Idia Aisien says in her recent Instagram post. She steps out in a handwoven two-piece by the Nigerian brand Eki Kere. It perfectly reflects the theme “When culture meets fashion” The kind that invites the viewer to appreciate the beauty of cultural craftsmanship to appreciate the beauty in culture and nature.

Photo: Instagram

The look is simple at first glance. A light gold cropped top paired with a matching midi skirt. But the details show traditional artistry. It appears to be handwoven, with visible fringe texture that suggests craftsmanship rather than factory finishing.

The top is structured, cut just above the waist. It fits close without looking tight. The neckline is clean and modest, a soft square shape that opens up the collarbone area while remaining modest.

The skirt sits high on the waist and falls straight down with a slit that runs up to the thigh.

Hair and makeup are kept simple. Her hair was worn down in soft waves and pulled back neatly to highlight the neckline. Makeup was kept in neutral tones. Her jewelry was minimal.

Her shoe is a key highlight of her overall outfit. She wore a white slingback heel.

This is where culture is expressed in a practical way. Èkì Kéré is known for working with textiles that reference Nigerian heritage. Instead of turning cultural symbols into costumes, the brand translates them into pieces that can be worn in everyday settings.

Here, heritage is visible in the handwoven fabric, while the clean cut keeps the design modern. On Idia Aisien, the two-piece feels current and rooted in tradition.
