Published

on

Nancy Isime is not just a talented actress and media personality, she is also a fashion force to be reckoned with. Over the years, she has graced numerous red carpets, delivering show-stopping looks that blend cultural pride and style. When Nancy Isime steps onto a red carpet, the rest of us might as well just go home. The actress  isn’t just serving looks, she’s serving entire five-course fashion meals that leave us both inspired and slightly intimidated. Here are six times Nancy turned red carpets into her personal runway, proving she’s Nigeria’s style queen.

1. The Pearl-Embellished Masterpiece at AMVCA 2022

Remember when Nancy showed up to the AMVCAs looking like a walking jewelry box (in the best way possible)? Her Valdrin Sahiti white gown with pearl embellishments was so extra, even the chandeliers were jealous. Paired with that quirky Simone Rocha pearl clutch, she had fashion critics at BellaNaija scrambling for their thesaurus to find new words for “flawless.”

2. When She Basically Became Human Gold at the ‘Superstar’ Premiere

For the “Superstar” premiere, Nancy said “subtlety is overrated” and arrived as a literal golden goddess. That Xtrabrides crop top and thigh-high slit skirt combo was so shiny, we’re pretty sure astronauts could see it from space. The matching headscarf? Chef’s kiss. It’s what we imagine a Nollywood queen would wear if she won the lottery.

3. The Silver & Gold Embellished Gown at Lagos Lifestyle Awards

Hosting duties? More like hosting lewks. Nancy’s silver-and-gold gown at the Lagos Lifestyle Awards had us all wondering – was she presenting awards or was she the award? The metallic masterpiece walked the perfect line between futuristic and regal, like if a spaceship and a palace had a very stylish baby.

4. The Red Rose-Design Dress for “Everybody Loves Jenifa” Promo

During the “Everybody Loves Jenifa” promo tour, Nancy proved you can be playful and polished at the same time. That red dress with the rose neckline was giving us “sexy garden party” vibes, and honestly? We’re still not over it. The way she paired it with bold accessories was a masterclass in how to stand out without trying too hard.

5. The Future Awards Africa 2022: Black Ball Gown

Nancy Isime at The Future Awards Africa 2022:

For her hosting gig at The Future Awards Africa, Nancy’s black lace-sleeved ball gown was the definition of “quiet luxury.” It was sophisticated enough for royalty but with just enough edge to remind us she’s not to be messed with. The minimal accessories? A power move – when your dress is this good, you don’t need much else.

6. Made In Heaven Premiere: Angelic White & Silver Ensemble

Nancy took the “Angels and Demons” theme very seriously for the “Made in Heaven” premiere, and thank goodness she chose team angel. That white and silver ensemble was so ethereal, we’re convinced she borrowed it from actual angels. The shimmering details caught every flashbulb, making her look like she was glowing from within (which, let’s be honest, she probably was).

Nancy Isime’s red carpet evolution proves that she is more than just a celebrity, she is a fashion visionary. Whether she’s embracing African heritage, experimenting with designs, or exuding classic Hollywood glamour, each look tells a story of confidence, creativity, and impeccable taste.

Chioma Ikokwu Honours Igbo Heritage in Two Outfits

Published

Chioma Ikokwu has always known how to make an entrance, but when she steps into culture, she does it with purpose. Recently, she appeared in two outfits that paid clear, unapologetic tribute to her Igbo roots, not as costumes. She captioned the pictures “I love my culture” and “When culture meets fashion.”

Image: Instagram

The first look is a traditional wedding inspired look. The top is a red off-shoulder, corset-style beaded detailing in front paired with a long, white, layered wrapper with a voluminous, ruffled design around the waist and hips, creating a dramatic silhouette. She finishes this look with her beret-style beaded hat, coral beads around her neck and wrist and a horse tail to make it a full royal regalia.

Her second look was a rich red Isiagu wrapper draped style. The top is a corset made style with a tree root illusion. The bottom features a red draped velvet that mimics double-layered skirts. The skirt is designed with a lion head (Isiagu) strategically placed on it. It’s a prominent motif in Igbo traditional wear signifying strength, royalty, power, and authority. She completes this look with a matching gele, a choker necklace, and black beaded handbag.

The highlight of her second outfit is the styling. Isiagu hasn’t been styled in that way before. She went further to ask a question in her post “Have you ever seen the Igbo Isiagu staple interpreted this way before?”

Wearing Isi Agu isn’t new. But presenting it like this, on this kind of platform, with this kind of calm assurance, is powerful. It reminds us once again that tradition doesn’t belong to the past. It belongs to whoever carries it and how you want it to be reflected.

These outfits were worn for a significant cultural event; for the chieftaincy title celebration of her father and her cousin Obi Cubana in Oba, Anambra.
